Paying for a trip
The ways to pay for a trip, including WiPay on Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, and what each one means for the security deposit and for refunds.
Every price on Roadelle is in US dollars, and the total you see at checkout is the total you pay. How you pay depends on the island.
By card at checkout
On every island you can pay with a card at checkout, or with a card or wallet kept on your account. The trip is authorised when you pay and captured when the host confirms, which is at once on instant-book listings. Where the island asks for a security deposit, it is held on the same card and released after the trip.
With WiPay
WiPay is the Caribbean card gateway used across Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana and Grenada. Where an island offers it, choose Pay by card with WiPay at checkout. You enter your card on WiPay's own secure page, not on Roadelle, and come straight back to your trip afterwards; from the app, WiPay's page opens in your phone's browser and hands you back to the app.
- You are charged at once. WiPay takes the payment when you pay; there is no separate authorisation. WiPay's fee is ours, not added to your total.
- No security deposit is held. WiPay cannot place a hold on a card, so a trip paid with WiPay carries none. Checkout tells you before you choose it.
- Refunds go back through WiPay. A cancellation refund is worked out exactly as for a card, recorded on your trip straight away, and paid back to your card through WiPay.
- If the payment does not go through, nothing is charged, and you are brought back to checkout with WiPay's reason, to try again or pay another way.
WiPay is currently running in its test mode on Roadelle, so no real money moves when you pay with it.
If something looks wrong
If you were charged but the trip does not show as paid, or a refund has not arrived, open a support case with your booking reference. Every payment on a trip is on its record, so we can see exactly what happened.
